As final numbers are still being tallied, it appeared that the San Diego show had an increase in both exhibitors and attendees this year, and the Belgard booth received considerable traffic flow on both days. Below are highlights of the feedback received from booth visitors.
- Endless Paver Design Possibilities: With 12 different colors of Moduline Series® Pavers showcased in the Belgard booth, we saw creative wheels spinning in the minds of design professionals who were intrigued by the endless possibilities of so many color, shape and size options in a paver with national availability.
- New Contemporary Wall Option: Many designers have been waiting for an attractive smooth-faced retaining wall product to use for contemporary outdoor designs. They were excited to check out new Melville Wall for varied applications. Melville Wall offers clean, crisp lines to complement Melville Slab and Melville Plank pavers and also works well with the Moduline Series.
- New Labor-Saving Wall Innovation: With labor shortages affecting project deadlines in many parts of the nation, designers were intrigued to learn about the innovative new Tandem® Modular Block retaining wall system, which can dramatically reduce installation time for light commercial wall projects. >> Watch Informational Video
- Rooftop Solutions: To optimize the footprint of both existing commercial buildings and new construction, designers seek ways to utilize rooftops as outdoor living space, plazas, restaurants or bars. However, rooftops can present design challenges due to uneven surfaces or the need to maintain access to utilities. Booth visitors were intrigued by the solutions provided by pedestal installation systems, which offer varied elevation ranges. Visitors were attracted to the multiple durable hardwood options of Westile® Wood Pavers, which can be installed using pedestals. Coordinating Westile® Cubes also drew a lot of attention for their versatile applications for bench seating, planters and more. Visitors were also excited to learn that Belgard’s popular Mirage® Porcelain Paver lines could also be used with pedestals to create upscale designs for both rooftops and poolscapes.

A popular educational offering for this year’s show was ASLA’s “Explore the Floor” program, which provided continuing education credits on a wide range of topics for multiple industry certification organizations. Each “Explore the Floor” session offered guided tours that allowed participants to network with various exhibitors while learning about the specific session topic. Belgard participated as one of the stops on the well-attended “Urban Design” walking tour.
PRIVATE BELGARD EVENT
On the second night of the show, Belgard hosted a private offsite cocktail party at the popular local steakhouse Lou & Mickey’s. The event offered an opportunity to network in a more relaxed atmosphere. In addition to cocktails and local fare, attendees enjoyed the multiple giveaways and prizes. The event was well-attended, and a good time was had by all. Belgard looks forward to hosting a similar event at next year’s conference, which will be held in Miami October 2-5, 2020.
